DEFINITIONS
Toprock - Just dancing around before downrocking. Looks kinda like skipping around.

Uprock - A form of dance that looks like a fast kung fu fight with no contact. Each movement done means something like tearing the person's arms off, or slashing the person.

Downrock - The breaking done on the ground. Consists of mostly the six step or other steps, with techs, power moves, and freezes worked into it. A chance for a breaker to show off their style.

Tech - A variation added into a basic step for style. Everyone has their own original ones.

Power move - Any one of the moves listed below. You shouldn't downrock unless you know at least a few of them to work in.

Freeze (stall) - Climatic point in a dance routine where the bboy unexpectantly freezes into an awkward or difficult position for a few seconds.

Bite (to bite) - To copy someone's style and moves. Very disrespectful.
MOVE GUIDES
Six Step - Backbone of footwork. Looks as if bboy is walking around on the ground in a circle. 13KB ANIMATION.

Four Step - Six step where steps five and six are skipped. Right leg is swung hard at step four.

Three Step - Another popular breakdancing step. Can be mixed in with six step. Watch Crazy Legs if you wanna see it.

CC Step - Another step usually used as a tech. (NO GUIDE)

Footwork Techs, Tips, and Style - Some stuff on doin techs, improving your look, and building style. 68KB ANIMATION.

1990 - The Bboy spins on one hand while in a handstand. Really nice looking. 72KB ANIMATION.

2000 - When you 1990 with one hand on the other.

Windmill - Legs are spread in V-shape and bboy spins around from his upper back to stomach, then back to his back, and so forth. 83KB ANIMATION.

Halo - Windmills without your shoulders or back. You spin on the back of your head instead.

Airtrack - One rotation of a windmill in the air. Demonstrated well by Krayz E Kujo (guy who wrote this guide) in "It's Like That".

Flare - Legs spread in V-shape. Bboy supports himself on hands while spinning his legs around him. Originated from gymnasts working on the pommel horse. 24KB ANIMATION.

Headspin - Pretty self-explanatory. . . 80KB ANIMATION.

Back Handspring - Like a backflip, but you land on your hands half way through in a handstand position and then you spring around through the rest of the flip. Essential for backflips.

Suicide - From crouch or standing position, bboy jumps into the air, and lands flat on his back (without really killing himself).

Turtle and other floats - Bboy spins around on hands with body horizontal, and with elbows tucked into his stomach area. Guide includes crickets, handspins, and other variations. 7KB ANIMATION.

Bronco / Donkey - From standing position, bboy jumps into slanted hand stand, then kicks back into standing position.

Solar Eclipse - Jump into a handstand position and then by kicking your legs, jump up and down on your hands.

Kip-Up - Kung-fu move where bboy rolls back from a lying position to his upper back, then kicks legs up and snaps body back into standing or crouching position.

Rubberband - Same as kip-up, but instead of rolling onto upper back, bboy hops back onto it. Repeated over and over.

Apple-Jack - From crouch, bboy kicks one leg up and back, thowing him onto his hands and foot. Then kicks leg back up and forwards to get back to starting position. (NO GUIDE)

Two-Legged Apple-Jack - Same as Apple-Jack, except both legs are kicked back and up.

Swipe - Very fun, easy, and popular move. Good for downrock techs, combos, and just individual use. From all fours, back down, bboy kicks legs into air and spins them 360 landing back in original position.

Helicopters - Bboy's leg sweeps around in circular direction while in a crouch. Other leg hops over sweeping one.

Backspin - Bboy spins in circles on his back.

Worm - From lying or standing position, bboy jumps onto hands, and lowers his body down slowly - chest first, then stomach, then legs.

Caterpillar - Same as worm, but your body rolls forwards - legs first, then stomach, then chest.

Nickel - To be used mostly as a tech. From knees, bboy lifts one leg up to the side while supporting himself with his hands. Bboy then lowers this leg quickly, and raises the other.

----------- POPPING MOVES ----------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE POPPING SECTION

You may find that this popping page is a lot shorter than the breaking one. This is not because of favouritism, but instead because of the nature of popping. Popping is much more about individual flavour and style than about specific pre-set moves, so you'll see a lot fewer guides here than elsewhere.

POPPING "MOVES"

SEND ME A MOVE GUIDE! What I would appreciate most would be a list of the most common popping styles (hitting, stobing, . . . ) and a brief one or two line description of each, but of course anything is welcome.

Body wave - Move where it appears as if an invisible wave is travelling through the body.

Arm wave to body wave - Makes it appear as if an invisible wave travels through one arm, then through the body and back up through the other arm.

Liquid style - This style consists mostly of waves, and making your body look like it's made of water.

Moonwalk - Not the same as the move done by Michael Jackson. Popper appears to be floating in a circular direction.

Backslide - Move done by Michael Jackson. Popper appears to be floating on his feet backwards.

Forward Slide (Bicycle) - Same as a backslide, but done forwards. Slightly different technique.

Forward Slide (Strut?) - Johnnie O's version of a forward slide.

Sideslide - Same as backslide, but done to one side.

The Heartbeat - Makes it look like your heart is beating REALLY strong.

Smurf Walk - More of a joke than anything else. . .

Twist - O - Flex - Move where you rotate your body 90° to one side one section of your body at a time.

Other Turns - Continues where "Twist-O-Flex" leaves off. Explains other ways of turning.

The Clamp - Popper does a lower body movment, or a head, neck and shoulder movment while hands are folded together into a "clamp" above head.

Robot - Originated in the 70s as kids tried to mimic all the robots they were seeing on TV. Just think of Robocop. (NO GUIDE)

Strobing - Makes it appear as if seisures are passing through your body from one point to another. Done by tensing and loosening muscles. (NO GUIDE)

Vibrating - Making your whole body or individual parts vibrate.

Collapse - Makes it look like your bones have melted for a second as you fall down to your knees.
